I had the honor of co-directing the ADC Award-winning art documentary series "Jeder Quadratmeter verdient der beste der Welt zu sein" for HORNBACH, with Jens Wirtzfeld at the helm of the project & Jan Stollberg as No.3 in our Trio Infernal.

In Gothenburg, a very special cloud appears overnight on just one square meter. A walk-in sphere that invites people to lose or find themselves within it. What this is all about and whether the poem by the artist Jelena Popov Abouhanian reveals more about the object – you can find out in our film.

And in Amsterdam Christel van Schoonhoven and Rianne Jasper make up the designer duo Naald & Hamer – Dutch for "Needle and Hammer". In the halls of the artist collective De Vliegtuin, they mainly experiment with steel. Here, they weld, grind, and flex to create the most unusual objects from the hard steel.

Since their studio is always full of friends and colleagues, the idea of a monumental square meter emerged, which can also feed entire hordes: the BBQ Tower. Several meters high, countless grill stations are stacked, turning a single square meter into the foundation for a gigantic banquet.

Produced by Sterntag production house, we shot the series using the ARRI Alexa Mini LF and mixed media ranging from VHS to photo cameras. Our journey took us through eight countries in Europe.
